Our school sits on a 2.87 hectares site, which includes a fantastic playing field that is hardy, free-draining and the venue for organised sport or lunchtime games set up by children.

The school is designed so that the buildings are situated on the perimeter of a large asphalt courtyard — giving Kenakena an open ‘community’ feel. In 2006 we built a magnificent architecturally designed library, which also contains an e-learning suite and storage of all the school’s physical teaching resources.

Positive, healthy play is a big focus at Kenakena School, so we have provided a wide range of facilities such as two fantastic adventure playgrounds, a forty metre ‘flying fox’, an impressively large sandpit, and a large asphalt area with netball, basketball and padder-tennis/kickball courts.

Kenakena is also across the road from Te Atiawa Park, which means we are never short of space. From softball to BMX, rugby to cricket, tennis to netball, Kenakena School children have every chance to be active.

Summer is the season to look forward to when the children can make use of our twenty-two metre swimming pool.
